Self harm UK treatment facilities

Self harm UK treatment facilities

Althea Park Specialist Service provides care, therapy and education to adolescents and adult women with histories of self harm and eating disorders.

Althea Park's self harm UK treatment centre is located in Stroud, Gloucestershire, and takes a unique approach to treatment, ensuring that each individual is valued and regarded as an essential partner in their own recovery process. Self harm treatment takes place at a specialist centre:

Newcombe House, our self harm UK treatment facility, is housed in a large, architect-designed detached house, offering a spacious interior, pleasant gardens and easy public transport access into town. Each person has their own room. The project provides a safe, nurturing and caring environment, particularly for young women who have had histories of self harm, as well as suicidal and para-suicidal behaviour. They may also have experienced other difficulties, including eating disorders.

Staff are recruited from a wide range of professional backgrounds, and have specialist training and particular expertise and experience in self harm treatment, and in understanding and supporting young women who exhibit self-injurious behaviour. There is a specific self harm treatment therapeutic programme that includes individual psychotherapy, art and drama therapy and group work.
